D#4, HW#1, Reading Reflection

As I read through todays material I discovered this is the part of English that I have always had problems with. Weather it is reading a handbook and making notes on what I am reading, due to I never know what to prioritize above the rest. If it is reading a fellow students paper to review, due to I do not have a good enough eye for detail to catch errors. Then after my paper is reviewed witch advice to listen to because I would not have turned in the paper if it did not look acceptable to me.

Shawn, I recommend spending some time with Word and its spelling/grammar feature. This helps me to ensure the words I’m using fits within the context I am writing about.

I too understand having difficulties prioritizing what to do when reading text, “whether” to take notes, highlight passages or key phrases. Unfortunately, I was raised to “never” write in books and it’s a hard habit to break. I still don’t do it. Instead I journal what I read, meaning I write down key phrases “I” believe I need to know. I also journal words I don’t know or understand and note which page or where I saw the word so I can look the passage up again. I hope this helps!
