English in high school was always difficult to me but I think that was usually because the subject matter was not important to me. It was always some book no one has read for 100 years (except students) and had nothing to do with modern times. As I was in eng101 and I could pick my own topics in that class I did find writing more enjoyable.
Right now the only real activities I am involved in is going to school and taking care of my kids.
The biggest news in my community is the shooting at Virgina Tech and how stress may have been a factor, since I myself am going back to school and I have kids in school that hit close to home. Even though these events took place months ago new info is still constantly coming out about it. To top things off it is now looking like at our local schools they will either cut back on the police presence during the day or stop it all together witch that sounds like a step in the wrong direction to me and will only cause stress levels to raise. As for my audience since I am a student and writing for my teacher and other students this should be a fitting topic.
